How to Set Monthly Intentions
I N T E N T I O N (noun): A determination to act in a certain way; an aim or plan
Many things in life are imposed on you whether you like it or not. It is easy to continue life with automatic reactions such as fear, anger, & sadness rather than determine your OWN responses to life’s many challenges 👊🏼 I’m sure everyone has heard the phrase “Life is only 10% what happens to you and 90% how you choose to react”. In essence, this is true 👍🏼 Without taking control, events & others have power over your thoughts, emotions and even actions.
I recently began noticing how unaware I was about the way I was living my life 👎🏼 I wanted more, I had to take control of my life & stop letting life control me! Stuck in daily routines, my attention would easily drift away into dwelling on the past/ future & pointless nonsense 💭 I needed to get out of my own head & into the PRESENT!!!
In medicine, intention is defined as “the healing process of a wound”. I felt this was fitting, as many of us must heal old wounds, such as negative thought patterns or unhealthy relationships before we can move forward into living a life of purpose & fulfillment 💖
With the beginning of each day, week, or month; I see it as an opportunity to move forward and purposely renew. One of the changes I made was writing out monthly intentions 🙌🏼
Here’s what you can do:
1. At the end or beginning of each month, take a few moments to realize what you’d like to focus on for the month!
2. Get a blank piece of paper & write down as many intentions as you’d like! Maybe you want to focus on patience or self-love 💕
3. Get a group of friends together if you’d like & talk about your monthly intentions! My co-workers & I did this once ☺️
I start with simple/small things I focus on & work from there. It’s a perfect way to reset each month & reflect on what you have done and where you want to go!
