How to Set an Intention
Setting intentions are a beautiful way to connect to your inner being throughout life. They can be powerfully symbolic and open the floodgates to a deeper connection to the Universe within. The key essence of trying any ritual is to show up with an open heart, an open mind and a willingness to be open to all possibilities.
I tend to use the morning of each day, end of the week, the new moon or the beginnings of each month as a time to reset and recreate the tone that I want to set for myself. Meaning that you can set intentions at any time during your day, month… WHENEVER YOU WANT! Regardless of when you want to do this, it’s a lovely time to reset and get clear about the things you really want to create and manifest into your life.
Setting intentions have the power to recharge and recalibrate your energy in direct proportion to the amount of consciousness you bring to the situation. The simple truth is that if you don’t know how to ask the Universe for what you want to create in life, then you will miss out on your own sweet superpowers.
Here is my process with how I set intentions:
1. Clear your space before the ritual
Our day to day lives can sometimes become energetically cluttered by thought-forms and otherworldly dramas etc. The best thing to do is clear your space by feng shui-ing your space which means NO CLUTTER - there needs to be an open flow of energy to flow through. Then, I recommend opening a window slightly, burning white sage leaf (not the full bundle (let’s be sustainable here - you can buy from Wholefoods), burn Palo Santo afterward and then, sprinkle the edge of your room with rock salt. Say a small invocation before you clear the space…
“Dear Universe, of all the negative energies that have come into this space, it’s time for you to leave, it’s time for you to go. I send you with light, I send you with love. Remove all negative energies from this space and only leave room for positivity.”
2. Create a sacred intention setting space
Whether it’s an altar or anywhere. Create a space by a window, where there Moonlight can touch. Make sure there is enough space where you can keep crystals, candles, journals, essential oils, and other symbolic items that conjure up a deep feeling of inspiration.
This is the beginning of your YOU time. Reflect with what has been going on in your life, what you feel like needs development, needs change, needs attention. Write it down, only you can see it!
4. Meditate for at least 5-7 minutes
When you are done journaling and have created your sacred space, sit next to it ( in the same room ) and turn on some relaxing meditation music.
Be still with yourself for 5-7 minutes (uninterrupted). Meditate for 10 minutes. The practice of meditation is really important throughout the intention setting process. This is because you can actively relax, come back into your body after being out there in the real world, tap in and allow for your desires to flow from your higher self. This will help you decide what intentions you may really want to set. Believe me, as you get to that point of stillness; you will be guided to soulfully and express all of the things you would love to manifest into your life.
4. Journal (again)
After your meditation, write down what came up. Is it similarly to what you had written about before? What are your findings?
5. Allow yourself to meditate for 7-10 minutes
Do #4 again.
Allow yourself to start looking in deep within! Get carried away in very descriptive detail how you would like the life of your wildest dreams to look. As you are doing this, you want to get super-clear about every little thing you want to start showing up in your reality.
If you notice the little voice of doubt or certain judgments begin to rise up as you are setting your intentions, remember that they are a very natural part of the manifesting process. You need to understand that you can’t control how you feel when the doubt rises up, but you can choose to reframe it in order to see it as a vital balancing force for the process to be successful. It’s ALL about perspective. Really dive into the core feelings of WHY you want to transform your life and what it would mean to the people and loved ones around you.
After this process, you will notice a newfound sense of peace within your heart. Many people start to notice signs of alignment starting to manifesting almost instantly after you start setting your intentions.
With love & light,
